Inside Hakata Roastery

Facing the front of the building, the entrance to Hakata Roastery is on the left, and the entrance to the patisserie "Saison des Recoltes" is on the right.
As the store primarily sells coffee, there is no dining area and drinks are only available for take-out.
The first thing that catches your eye when you enter the store is the large roasting machine you can see in the back!
You can see the coffee beans being roasted from inside the glass-walled shop.
You can enjoy the crackling sound of roasting coffee beans, their fragrant aroma, and the sweet aroma of the patisserie.

The store is also connected to the patisserie next door, so you can purchase coffee and enjoy pairing it with cake.
*Please note that the bills will be separate.

Espresso machine

At REC COFFEE, the espresso machines installed vary depending on the store.
We recommend enjoying the unique characteristics of each espresso machine! Hakata Roastery's espresso machines are Victoria Arduino's "Black Eagle" 3Gr
This model was developed based on feedback from the world's top baristas.
It is also used as the official machine for the WBC (World Barista Championship) and is said to be the best espresso machine.

Staff Interview

To find out more about Hakata Roastery, we interviewed a barista who actually works there!
We spoke with Hayami-san from Hakata Roastery.
What kind of stories will you hear?

Barista Hayami

Hakata Roastery's recommended pairings

-So, we'd like you to introduce some recommendations that are unique to Hakata Roastery! Please tell us your recommended pairings with the sweets from the patisserie located next door!
Hayami: The barista's recommendation is "Mont Blanc x Guatemala." The rich sweetness of the chestnut is matched by the body of the Guatemalan coffee, and the subtle acidity is a perfect match.
Mont Blanc is often associated with autumn, but we also offer delicious chestnuts in each season, so please give it a try!

My personal recommendation is pairing scones with iced cafe latte .
I love Recolte's scones so much that I'm confident I eat them more than any other brand.

Products unique to Hakata Roastery

- Hakata Roastery is a store that mainly sells goods, so it has a slightly different concept from other stores. Please tell us about the products that are unique to Hakata Roastery.
Hayami: We stock more coffee equipment than other stores so that people living near the roastery can easily brew coffee at home.
We have tested several coffee brewing machines that are relatively affordable even for those who are just starting out! From these, we have selected and sold the ones that produce the most delicious brews, and are easy to use on a daily basis due to their reproducibility and functionality.
You can also sample coffee in store, so if there's a coffee equipment you're interested in, you can check it out before purchasing!

This is the only place that can beat other shops!

- What are the selling points of Hakata Roastery that make it stand out?
Hayami: Baristas, roasters, pastry chefs, and other members of each department are all gathered in the office on the second floor, so it's easy to immediately share any questions or thoughts you have. It's a place where more information is gathered than anywhere else. We have professionals in each field, so please feel free to ask us anything!
Another perk of working at the roastery is that I often have the opportunity to discuss coffee with the roasting team and the president, which is very educational!

Daily life at Hakata Roastery

- Finally, a little story.
Please tell us some common stories from Hakata Roastery!
Hayami: The store has just opened, so I wouldn't go so far as to say that this is a common occurrence, but I eat so many Recolte sweets that I feel like I'm going to get fat... This might just be something that I'm experiencing.
This is even more exciting as you can try coffee and cakes before they are released to the public.

Also, because there are no seats, we can get closer to our customers and have lively conversations while we brew our coffee. I'd love to chat with you while you wait for your coffee to be ready!

Thank you, Hayami-san, for sharing your unique insights into the Hakata Roastery!
At a roastery, the fragrant smell of roasting coffee and the sweet aroma of sweet treats always makes you hungry.
We hope you all enjoy the pairing of coffee and sweets!
