Rooted in the community

Our story began with a single truck. When specialty coffee first began to become popular, we were shocked and moved by its deliciousness, and with the desire to share that experience with as many people as possible, we took our first steps as a coffee shop in a mobile coffee truck, which was rare at the time.

We value each and every customer who visits us, and have grown into a coffee shop with locations in Fukuoka, Tokyo, and Taiwan, thanks to our roots in the local community. This is where we began, and it is here that we can still find the "REC COFFEE identity" that is handed down to this day.

Reliable technology and hospitality

Shortly after opening my truck, I began to face coffee and actively participated in competitions to improve my skills as a barista. I learned a lot through the competitions, such as how to give customers an emotional experience with coffee.

In 2014, our team leader, Iwase, finally won the Japanese barista championship. He won again the following year, and came second at the 2016 world championships. This experience helped us grow. We continue to challenge ourselves in various competitions, never stopping to learn in order to make every bite delicious.

Unleash your potential

In 2018, 10 years after our founding, we were serving coffee as a barista champion. In order to be closer to the upstream of the coffee industry, we started roasting our own coffee. By handling everything from raw material selection to roasting, we are now able to provide coffee to everyone with more thorough quality control.

Each coffee has its own unique character, so we roast to bring out its full potential. We also offer a wide range of coffees, from affordable original blends to rare, top-of-the-line coffees, so that more people can experience specialty coffee.

Use good materials

What we learned through competitions and roasting is to "use good ingredients." This is the basic premise for making great coffee, and it is something we are committed to. To have good ingredients (green coffee beans), you need a good producer. It takes the efforts of the producer, as well as the background and story behind each bean of coffee to produce it.

We believe it is our role to treasure every single bean and convey that to you along with each cup of coffee. We build relationships with producers and trust that REC COFFEE will provide you with quality coffee. We purchase green beans with the aim of building such sustainable relationships.

A place where everyone can have fun and grow

It's not uncommon for REC COFFEE customers to start with a cafe mocha and before they know it, have started drinking single-origin (single-farm) coffee. We believe that REC COFFEE is a place that broadens the reach of specialty coffee, which is often considered difficult to drink, and where everyone can enjoy, grow, and learn.

There are many stories and tales that go into making a cup of coffee. I think it would be wonderful and satisfying to be able to bring a smile to the faces of everyone involved. REC COFFEE will continue to strive to achieve this and provide excellent coffee.
