REC COFFEE Shibuya East opened in 2022 as the second shop in Tokyo, taking over the location and spirit of COFFEEHOUSE NISHIYA.

Shibuya

As you all know, the Shibuya area is one of Tokyo's busiest areas.
The eastern area has a relatively calm atmosphere, but in recent years it has been undergoing redevelopment and is becoming more lively.
There are many different shops along Hachiman Street, which leads to the Daikanyama area.
It seems like it would be fun just to take a stroll by yourself!

Shibuya East store interior

The interior of the restaurant, which has inherited the same exterior and interior design as COFFEEHOUSE NISHIYA, a beloved cafe in Shibuya, is reminiscent of a traditional Italian bar. The interior is mainly counter seating, and there is also terrace seating outside.

Espresso machine

At REC COFFEE, the espresso machines installed vary depending on the shop.
We also recommend enjoying the unique characteristics of espresso produced by each machine!

The espresso machine at the Shibuya East shop is Victoria Arduino's "Eagle One"
Although it is compact, it delivers power comparable to that of a large espresso machine.
It is equipped with a stainless steel boiler that is approximately twice as powerful as existing espresso machines.

Staff Interview

To find out more about the Shibuya East store, we interviewed some staff who actually work there!
We spoke with Hinako from the Shibuya East store.
What kind of stories will you hear?

Shibuya East store exclusive items

- Please tell us about a menu item that you would say "You have to order this!" when you come to the Shibuya East store.
Hinako: Speaking of Shibuya East store, I recommend "Lily Blend" !
This is a medium-dark roasted blend of Ethiopian and Guatemalan coffee. Since Nishiya's coffee is a dark roast, this coffee was specially blended to make it more familiar to regular customers and is exclusive to the Shibuya East store.
The taste, inspired by NISHIYA's lily logo , is floral with a sweetness reminiscent of brown sugar.

Another thing I'd like to introduce is the espresso shaker made with this Lily Blend!
This slightly sweet, non-alcoholic coffee cocktail for adults is best enjoyed freshly poured, so be sure to enjoy it right away.
You'll have to drink it to find out what it tastes like!
In addition, Lily Blend is also used in the cream of our premium pudding, so please enjoy pairing them together.

Shibuya East store staff recommended seats

- Now, onto the next question! Do you have any recommended seats?
Hinako: The seats in front of the mirror at the back are the most popular with customers!
It is characterized by its large logo, and many people take photos there.
My personal recommendation is the counter seats.
For first-time customers, sitting at the counter can be quite a hurdle, but we would especially like first-time customers to sit down!
Let's talk coffee and have lots of small talk!

This is the only place that can beat other stores!

- Please tell us what the appealing points of the Shibuya East store are that make it "unbeatable!"
Hinako: The Shibuya East store is full-service, so there are more opportunities to talk to customers than at other stores.
On the other hand, I think it's easy to close the gap between staff and customers, and all of our staff are easy to talk to.
Thanks to this, many people use it on a daily basis, and we keep the stamp cards of those who come every day in the store!

Daily life at Shibuya East shop

- Finally, a little story.
Please tell me some common stories from the Shibuya East.
Hinako: Many people who work or live nearby give us hand signals when they pass by the store, and some even come into the store to say hello. That makes me happy!
We also often meet up in Shibuya privately, and it can be extremely embarrassing if I'm not careful.

Hinako-san, the friendly atmosphere at the Shibuya East store really came through!
Be sure to stop by our Shibuya East for a break from shopping or while sightseeing in Tokyo!
